Winifred Ramsey

Winifred Ramsey, age 93 of Jonesboro, passed away on April 22, 2026. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.

Winifred was born on December 10, 1932, in Afton, Texas to the late John and Matilda Gilman. Winifred grew up and attended school in Jonesboro. She married Bert Ramsey on January 2, 1952, in Coleman County and they made their home in Jonesboro. Winifred worked for 29 years at City Drug for Dale White until it closed in 1994. In her later years, she provided care and support for individuals who needed assistance. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.

Winifred loved to take care of people. She enjoyed growing flowers, crocheting, quilting, and baking. Sunday dinner was a special event for Winifred and her family. She will be remembered for her strength, her huge heart and for making excellent cobblers and pecan pies.

Winifred is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert; and brother Darwin Gilman.

She is survived by her children, Delbert Ramsey, Thomas Ramsey, and Margaret “Sissy” Merchant, and husband, Terry; brother, John Gilman; sister, Betty Stepp; grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson and Jake Merchant and wife, Kesha; great grandchildren, Raymond Douga, Adam Douga and Jexyn Merchant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
