William (Bill) Thomas Ashcraft, age 79 of Gatesville, passed away on May 1, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m.on Monday, May 5th at First Baptist Church in Gatesville with Pastor Sam Crosby Officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Rogers Cemetery in Rogers, Texas.
Bill was born on June 21, 1945, in Iraan, Texas to the late Zeta Iota (Chunk) and Azalee Anna Ashcraft. He graduated from Reagan County High School in Big Lake, Texas in 1963. Bill attended Southwest Texas State University graduating with a degree in business. While attending school, Bill married Nancy Jane Davis in 1965.
Bill was an educator for 27 years, half of which were spent at the Windham School District, part of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System.
Bill enjoyed spending time traveling the country with wife Nancy and particularly enjoyed his trips to New York City. He loved attending Baylor Women’s basketball games and taking his boat to the lake. Since childhood, Bill was ferociously devoted to the game of golf and played every opportunity available. Most of all, Bill was a man of faith, family and fun and took extraordinary care of his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Ashcraft.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Nancy Ashcraft; daughter, Ann Longoria; son, David Ashcraft; grandchildren, Alec Longoria, and wife, Maricela, and Shane Longoria; and great grandchildren, Alianna, Uriah, Xander, Zaida, with new great granddaughter, Mia, arriving soon.
