Wayne Paul Elam

Wayne Paul Elam, age 58, was called home on May 5, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.

Wayne was born on May 25, 1967, in Campbell, Kentucky. He was adopted at age three by Walter Perry “Boxie” Elam Sr. and Thelma Loretta “Cricket” Elam. Later in life, he was blessed to reunite and build a relationship with his biological father, William Runnels. He is survived by his children, Sara Bethany Elam, and Jackson Carter Elam; his siblings, Clement Patrick Elam, Cynthia Zane Harry, Verna Lucille Arnold, and Edythe Evon Harper, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boxie, and Cricket Elam; his sister Loretta Elaine Vickery; and his brother Walter Perry Elam Jr.

Wayne was raised in Round Rock, Texas and graduated from Round Rock High School in 1986. Wayne spent his early career with Motorola and the City of Round Rock. However, his heart always belonged to the outdoors and the animals he tended. From his days in FFA to his work at Texas A&M University large animal hospital and Scarmardo Cattle Company, Wayne’s expertise and compassion for livestock were hallmarks of his professional life.

On May 30, 1992, Wayne married Rebecca Lynn Elam. Though they later took different paths, they continued to be devoted friends, ensuring their family remained a united front for their children.

Wayne loved the outdoors, livestock shows, hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a huge fan of Texas A&M football (Gig ‘Em!). His faith was his foundation; he was a member of the Barn Church Ministries in Hamilton, Texas and found great joy in leading Bible studies for his neighbors at his apartment community.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne’s honor to Barn Church Ministries, P.O. Box 765, Hamilton, TX 76531.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,

for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
