Wanda Faye Howard

Wanda Faye Good Howard of Gatesville, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 89.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Mathew Hamilton officiating.

Wanda was born in Moody, Texas on December 18, 1936, to the late Clarence and Faye Goode. She was saved at the age of 12 and loved and served the Lord her whole life. While in school, she was involved in the FHA, served on the newspaper staff, played volleyball, and was a twirler. She graduated from Moody High School in 1955.

In 1958 Wanda met Robert Howard at the Dairy Land in McGregor and they were married in July of that same year. The following year they welcomed their daughter, Brenda. Their family resided in McGregor for 40 years. Wanda was a stay-at-home mom until she joined the staff at the McGregor Clinic as a receptionist, where she worked for Dr. Carroll and Dr. Jean Robertson. She worked there for over 30 years with a sweet smile and a kind heart.

Wanda lived a full and fruitful life. Nothing brought her more joy than having her family together. She loved cooking, especially for family gatherings, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. In 1999, Wanda and Robert moved to Gatesville, where they built their dream home in the country where they still reside today.

Wanda’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Meadows in Gatesville for the loving care given to her during her last weeks of life.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Howard; daughter, Brenda Howard Burkes and husband, Duff; sister, Joan Hargrove; grandchildren, Bradley Burkes, and Alicia Low; great grandchildren, Hudson Low, Reese Low, Cooper Burkes, Emmeline Burkes; in-laws, Susie and Jerry Woods; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in Wanda’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; American Diabetes Association, P.O.
