Vinton Charles Campbell, age 81 of Ft. Smith, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  Graveside services will be held in Gatesville at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Turnersville Cemetery, with Bro. Mike Barron officiating.

Vinton Charles Campbell was born on December 21, 1942 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Willard Vinton and Iona Bull Campbell. Vinton met and married his wife, Sue Carter while living in Arkansas. After spending several years there and having their two boys, they decided to make the move to Texas. Vinton worked as a ranch foreman in the Jonesboro area spending many years on the Diamond Z / Betty Rae Ranch. Living in this area afforded him the opportunity to meet so many wonderful friends and neighbors that remember him as a fun loving, always had a story for everything, kindhearted man that always put his family first. When Vinton wasn’t working cattle or hunting, he loved watching westerns, scary movies, wrestling, drinking soda pop and spending time with his family. Vinton could be found at the field or gym on Friday nights watching the Jonesboro Eagles play. He also gave back to the community by serving on the school board and the volunteer fire department. He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, Dad, Pop, and PawPaw by his family.

Vinton lost his wife Sue, after 45 years of marriage in 2006 and was also preceded in death by his parents.

Vinton is survived by his wife of 15 years, Joyce Campbell, with whom he was blessed to find love again and return to his home in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Vinton leaves behind a legacy of love in his sons: Allen Campbell and wife, Karen of Turnersville, Texas, Wayne Campbell and wife, Tracie of Palestine, Texas. He was also blessed with stepsons, Frank McGehee and wife, Jillanne of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Michael McGehee and fiancé, Lupita Parera of Lake Village, Arkansas and stepdaughter, Cherie Koenigseder and husband, Mark of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Staton Campbell and wife, Courtnie of Palestine, Texas, Kyle Campbell of Pflugerville, Texas, Noah McGehee and wife, Becky of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lila McGehee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jerrod and Sydnie Koenigseder of Conway, Arkansas, Brendan McGehee and Alice Malone of Oklahoma City, OK, Autumn Charvat and husband, Patrick of Texas, Dustin McGehee of Texas; great-grandchildren, Christien and Soyier of Palestine, Texas, Henry McGehee of Oklahoma and Gwenny Charvat of Texas.
