Scott Alexander Tubbs

Scott Alexander Tubbs, born December 7, 1962, to Carol Massey Tubbs and Francis Tubbs, departed this earthly world on May 23, 2024, at the age of 61.

A native Houstonian, Scott’s early childhood was spent in South Houston before moving to the Katy suburb of West Houston later in childhood. He was a graduate of Katy Taylor High School and Sam Houston State University. Following graduation, Scott enlisted in the US Navy and was selected for Fire Control Operations and Officer Candidate School. Following A-school, Scott was diagnosed with streptococcal pneumonia, which sadly vegetated within his heart and required multiple surgical interventions, ultimately leading to the end of his military career.

Scott was fiercely patriotic and his love of country and reverence for all branches of the armed forces was admirable.  Unbeknownst to a number of people, he had a soft spot for military working and retired service dogs.

Never having known the true meaning of “moderation”, Scott had a zest for life and sense of adventure could, at times, frighten his wife and close friends. He clearly had a passion for life! Scott enjoyed BMX as a child and it was at that time that his passion for motorcycles and motocross was born. Never one to shy away from competition, Scott continued to race until his early 50’s, following a heart attack.  Scott also enjoyed building vintage motorcycles.

When he wasn’t racing or on the back of a bike, he enjoyed hunting, sport shooting, and boating. Scott also enjoyed any opportunity he had to spend time with his family and friends.  He was employed by National Oilwell Varco for over 25 years.

Scott is survived by his wife of 36 years, Heather, who is a registered nurse within the division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston. His mother, Carol, has been retired since the early 2000’s. His father, Francis, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at Scott’s Funeral Home, 2425 East Main Street, Gatesville, Texas 76528 on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation immediately prior at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, surviving family members request that a charitable donation be made on behalf of Scott to the charitable organizations listed below.
