Sandra Gay Spence

Sandra Gay Spence, of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018.  Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at King Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Sandra was born in Gatesville, Texas to the late Wade B. and Marvel Lawrence Dyer. She attended school in Gatesville and Pennsylvania. Sandra moved back to Texas and worked for Mitchell’s Restaurant in Waco before moving back to Gatesville in 1976.  She married Grady Spence, Jr., in 1977.  They were married for over 40 years.  Sandra loved to cook many different kinds of pies for her nieces and nephews.  She loved to fish, hunt, ride horses and ride around and count deer.  Sandra loved all her nieces and nephews dearly.  She could quote all of their birthdays by heart.  Sandra never met a stranger. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Joyce Young. Sandra is survived by her husband, Grady Spence, Jr.; brother, Ronnie Dyer and wife Sondra; brother-in-law, Maurice Young; mother-in-law, Frances Spence; sister-in-law, Luanna Gossett and several nieces and nephews.
