Ruth Wilson was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, on August 11, 1942. Ruth was born to Joseph and Edna Trierweiler, who instilled in her the values of education, creativity, and family — values she carried proudly throughout her life.

Ruth earned her Ph.D. in Vocational Teacher Education from Colorado State University and led a remarkable professional career. She was honored as Teacher of the Year in Iowa and was named one of the Top Ten Teachers in the nation. Ruth held prestigious leadership roles including Interim Department Chair for Home Economics and Vocational Teacher Education at Idaho State University College of Education, National Chair of the Extension Committee on Policy, and served as Phi Delta Kappa International President of the Idaho State University Chapter. She was also an accomplished reviewed author for the American Vocational Association, ATEA, and Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators.

Beyond her professional accolades, Ruth’s greatest pride and joy came from spending time with her family — and kicking butt at her favorite card games, Five Crowns and Trash Can.

In her younger years, Ruth loved camping in the Big Horn Mountains near Buffalo, Wyoming. She was a free-spirited and crafty soul who found joy in sewing, knitting, gardening, and diamond art. She was an animal enthusiast, and adored caring for her two beloved dogs, Cash and Barney. Ruth also treasured time at her daughter Dionne’s farm — and on occasion, she even snuck a goat or two back home for sleepovers.

She was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary, always giving back to her community and country.

Ruth Wilson’s life was a beautiful blend of intellect, creativity, adventure, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

Ruth Wilson is survived by her daughter, Dionne Wilson; her son, Charles Wilson, and her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Wilson. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Kayla Wilson, Ashley Wilson, Zachary Wilson, and Brooklynn Wilson.

Ruth is further survived by her siblings: Joan Ditzfeld (sister), John Trierweiler (brother), Jim Trierweiler (brother), and Robert Trierweiler (brother).

She was preceded in death by Robert Ditzfeld (brother-in-law), Francis Trierweiler (brother), Sonja Trierweiler (sister-in-law), and Janice Trierweiler (sister-in-law).
