Rosella Lee May was born on July 30, 1927 in Point Isabel, Ohio and passed from this life on November 5, 2025 at the age of 98 in Gatesville, Texas. She was known from childhood by family and friends as Mickey. Rosella lived the first 92 years of her life in Ohio and the last 6 years in Texas.
Rosella graduated from Moscow High School in June 1945 and married Harry Lee May on December 19, 1945 never having had a single date with him. Their courtship was carried out via correspondence during WWII and they were married 62 years.
Rosella had a laugh that could light up a room. She enjoyed country music and dancing. She loved her family with all her heart and stayed in touch even after they were spread across the country. Growing up she always told the kids to live in different states so that she could travel and visit. They did just that with residences in Texas, Georgia, California, Indiana and Ohio. She will be missed by many friends and family members.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry Lee May, her parents Albert Lee Boone and Margaret Marie Grace, her siblings Jackson James Boone, Albert Redmond Boone, Marguerite Elizabeth Haas, and Charles Francis Boone and her son Harry Michael May.
She is survived by her children and their spouses Carol Lee Dildine (James), Ronald Eugene May (Kathleen), James Steven May (Isabel Jean), Daniel Lee May (Barbara), daughter-in-law Jean May, her sisters-in-law Mary Jane Boone and Mary Sue Dietrich, her grandchildren Lisa Hempleman, Selena Kjeer, Lorraine Thompson, Richard May, Shawn May, Andrew Spampinato, Erin McKenna, Tracy Borland, Tanya Wilson, Michelle Patterson, Danielle Ketterman, and Justin Ketterman as well as numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St., Amelia Ohio, 45102 on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m.
