Donnie Wright, age 72 of Coryell City, passed away on the evening of June 7, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City, TX 10801 FM929, Gatesville, TX 76528. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Roland Don “Donnie” Wright was born on September 29, 1947 in Waco, Texas to Roland and Faye (Brasher) Wright. He was joined two years later by a brother, Doyce. Donnie grew up in the Whitehall community. He attended school in Gatesville and graduated in 1966. He was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1968 and honorably discharged two years later, returning to Gatesville in 1970. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and settled permanently in Central Texas. He worked in the cable television industry for the majority of his career and retired in Gatesville. Throughout his adult life he enjoyed giving his time and energy to various charities, such as The March of Dimes, the Children’s Rehab Center in Temple, and the cattle industry. Out of all his accomplishments, the most notable one would have to be the amount of people in his life that he loved. From family to friends, and all in between, everyone in Donnie’s life mattered to him and he was grateful for them all.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donnie is survived by his wife Paula, a daughter, Jenna Rogers and husband, Jason; sons, Blake and Jayce and wife, Renee; bonus daughters Amy Reeder and husband, Brian, Angela McDonald and husband, James, and April Acosta and husband Angel; his brother, Doyce Wright and wife, Nancy; and the best cousin ever, Donna Brasher. He is also survived by, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 4 nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews.

Donnie has always said that he was proof that God has a sense of humor. When you remember him, feel free to laugh.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations for the Gatesville Animal Shelter or St. John Lutheran Church Coryell City 10801 FM929, Gatesville, TX 76528.
