Richard Wayne Webb

Richard Wayne Webb, age 71 of Waco, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. A private burial will be held at Pendleton Cemetery.

Richard Wayne Webb was born on March 29, 1954, in Arlington, Texas to the late Betty McDonald and Jack Webb. Richard spent his early years in Arlington and attended a special education school in Pantego, Texas. Later in life, Richard moved to Moody with his family where he enrolled in Mexia State School to learn life skills. While in Mexia, Richard sang with the Sunshine Singers who traveled across the state performing. Richard also participated in the Special Olympics. Richard eventually returned to Waco where he was supervised by MHMR and was able to work at Walmart and live in his own apartment. After Richard retired from Walmart, he moved into a group home in Waco until he moved to Ridgecrest Retirement and Healthcare Community where he spent the remainder of his life.

Richard loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, the Baylor Bears, and attending Western Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time watching his favorite television shows including Wheel of Fortune, The Andy Griffith Show, and old westerns. Richard also enjoyed singing his favorite tunes. He leaves a legacy of a life well lived and loved, even with his special needs. Richard touched many lives during his lifetime. He was indeed our special guy and will be missed dearly. Rest in peace our sweet brother.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Shelia Webb.

He is survived by his brother, Larry Webb of Hewitt; sister, Charlotte LeMay of Frisco; aunt, Robbie Lanelle Brady; three nieces; two nephews; six great nieces; one great nephew, one great, great nephew; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Special Olympics or any organization dedicated to helping those with special needs.
