Paula Sue Crosby, age 72 of Gatesville, passed away on October 19, 2025, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with Rev. Robbie Kigar officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, at the funeral home.
Paula was born on December 18, 1952, in Anson, Texas. She was the daughter of Albert and Joyce Johnson. She married Robert “Bobby” Crosby on December 19, 1984. Paula had four children, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Jayden, Kayson, Emery and Burlan, her great grandchildren, spent much of their time with her and they brought her much joy.
Her grandchildren, James, Brook, Clay, Shelby, Dustin, Evan, Cheyanne, Cherokee, Brady, Michaela and Riley kept her busy and could often be found at their “Memaws” home spending time with her on her back porch, stopping by for lunch or after school, or waiting for her to finish cooking their favorite meal. For many of them, she was their best friend, biggest supporter, and fiercest defender. She never missed an opportunity to remind them that she gave them their first kitchen sink bath and changed their diapers when they got out of line with her.
Sue loved music and flowers, and being “Aunt Sue” to her many nieces and nephews. Her sisters Donna, Velma, and Darla were her best friends. She loved passing time over the years playing cards, Yahtzee, Wahoo and just about any other game with her many friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Joyce Johnson; brother, Jerry Johnson; sisters-in-law, Chrystal Schearer, Rose Marie Crosby, Judy Angel; and brother-in-law, James Crosby.
Sue is survived by her husband, Bobby Crosby; son, Chad Rushton and wife, Kelly; daughter, Christy Elliott and husband, Michael; daughter, Jana Matthew; son, Cory Crosby; brother, Charles Johnson and wife, Shelda; and brother, Butch Johnson.
