Patty Grace Baize Clemons left this earth August 14, 2026, at the age of 93 in Abilene, Texas with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Interment will follow at Gatesville City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday August 16 at the funeral home.
Patty was born in King, Texas on January 14, 1933, to Clebe and Leck Holt Baize. She graduated in 1950 from Turnersville High School. While at high school, she enjoyed playing basketball and was on the cheerleading squad. She met her husband James Clemons and they married December 22, 1951. She worked for John Deere, The National Bank, Jackson Insurance and Gatesville High School until about 1975 when she and James purchased Gatesville Printing Company until they sold it in 1999. They built a home on their farm in Coryell City and she lived there until 2017. James and Patty enjoyed traveling in the Good Sam’s Club “Escapee Sam’s” from Gatesville. She was a charter member of Cedar Ridge Church of Christ in Gatesville. Patty enjoyed playing 42, 84 and Mexican train. She was an artist and her family have several of her paintings. Patty was known for her friendliness and never met a stranger. After a slight illness, she moved to Assisted Living at The Oaks. She enjoyed everyone there but made the decision in January of 2021 to move to Lyndale Assisted Living Center in Abilene. She loved Lyndale and made many great friends. In January of 2026, a decline in her health required her to move to Wisteria Place in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leck and Clebe Baize, husband, James Clemons, a brother Donald Baize, his wife Garlene, another sister-in-law, Linda Baize and two nephews, Mike Baize and Barry Baize. She is survived by daughters, Connie Clemons of Gatesville and Cindy Hothan (Don) of Abilene. Her brothers Burney Baize of Gatesville and John Baize (Joan) of Falls Church, VA. Three grandchildren, Brandon Ayers (Robbie) of Gatesville, Amanda Wiskow (Kyle) of Abilene and Andy Hothan of New York City. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Sean Ayers (Hanna), Elle Ayers, Lucas Ayers (Izzie), Addison Wiskow, Reece Wiskow and one great great grandchild Colton Ayers. Along with nieces and nephews and a host of good friends.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people at The Oaks, Lyndale, Hendrick Hospice, and Wisteria for the love and care given to our mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Cedar Ridge Church of Christ, Abilene Education Foundation (www.Abileneef.org) or Hendrick Hospice.
