Patsy Ruth Balzen

Patsy Ruth Balzen, age 79, of Gatesville, passed away Saturday April 21, 2018 at a local hospital.  Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Mound Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at Scott’s Funeral Home.Patsy was born on March 20, 1939 in Goldthwaite, Texas to the late Bill Holland and Gracie Wilkins Holland.  She worked at White Auto for 15 years and after it closed, she worked at Brookshire Brothers in McGregor for 17 years.  Patsy loved playing bingo, cards, and dominos.  She also loved visiting with her grandchildren and most everyone knew her as Granny Pat.She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Eddie Balzen; daughter, Marilynn Coalston; and grandson, Brandon Holden.Patsy is survived by her daughter, Sandra Backstrom and lifelong friend, Jamie Groh; son, Terry Balzen and wife, Mickey; sisters, Brenda Stanford and husband, Jerry and Betty Rivers; seven grandchildren, Shane, Jake, Amanda, Jennifer,  Brandi, Cory, and Brandy Waters; six great-grandchildren, Stetson, Kason, Kalie, Kolton, Aliyha, and Madilyn; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
