Patricia Annette Nellums

Patricia Annette Nellums, age 51, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Grace Bible Church, 4012  East US Hwy 84 in Gatesville, with burial following at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville.

Patricia was born on October 27, 1968 in Houston TX to Douglas White and Emma Shirlene Mayberry-Brittian. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1987 and went on to study at Trinity Valley Community College. It was there she was a member of TVCC Cardetts as a high kicker.  Patricia was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ and loved serving and praising God every chance she could.  She made her career with Texas Department of Criminal Justice and was a dedicated and valued employee for over 18 years.  Everyone who knew her knew how hard she worked to provide for herself and her two kids. Patricia would go the extra mile for her kids and family and did it all with grace and a beautiful smile. Her personality spoke for the kind of person she was and there is nobody who could say otherwise. You knew right away how she felt about you because she was a “matter of fact” type of person. However, no matter whom she came in contact with, whether friend or not she would let them all know that she “loved you for free and there was nothing you could do about it.”

She is preceded in death by her father, Douglas White and bonus dad, Elray Brittian; and her grandparents, Clinton and Marsha Mayberry and Marion and Minnie Basey.

Patricia is survived by her mother, Emma Shirlene Mayberry-Brittian of Crockett, TX; children, DeQuan Cross and spouse Mariah Tondre of Killeen, De’Jaria Cross and spouse Chad Williams of Killeen, TX; grandchildren, Zyrius Williams, DeQuency Cross and Kaiden Tondre; her siblings, Charles Mayberry and wife, Melanie of Tyler, TX, Kevin Merriweather of Colorado Springs, CO, Kimberly Merriweather of Houston, TX, Denethra Proctor and husband, Michael of Houston, TX, Elmira Pickrom and husband, Carlos of Crockett, TX,  Douglas White of Houston, TX, and Nasha Jordan of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; bonus sister, Valerie Hudson and husband, David of Texarkana, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and loving family and friends.
