Oscar Dean Jones

Oscar Jones, age 87 of Jonesboro, Texas, passed away on October 18, 2025.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Jonesboro Cemetery with Pastor Max Gunn officiating.

Oscar Dean Jones was born April 5, 1938 to the late Hollis and Isabelle Boyd Jones in Waco, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Waco, before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1956. He served as a Signalman on both the U.S.S. Princeton and U.S.S. Yorktown, completing a tour in Japan and serving during the Korean War. On October 31, 1959, he married Phillis White in Whitehall, Texas. He and Phillis eventually settled in Jonesboro in 1975, where he farmed and ranched. Oscar enjoyed spending time with his family, holding cookouts, hunting, fishing, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 63 years, Phillis Jones; sons, Vernon Jones, Corey Jones, and Robert Glen White.

Oscar is survived by his brother, Bill Jones; sons, Noble Jones, Troy Jones and wife Kelli, Joshua Damon Jones and wife, Kara Lee, and their son Joshua Clark Jones; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
