Ollie Edwards

Ollie Edwards, age 72 of Gatesville, passed away on the afternoon of August 1, 2020. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Restland Cemetery. There will be a come and go visitation, Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Scott’s Funeral Home during normal hours.

Ollie was born on February 17, 1948 in Gatesville to the late O.Q. and Hazel Tatum Edwards. He grew up and attended school in Gatesville, graduating with the class of 1969. Ollie joined the United States Army in May of 1969 and proudly served our country until June of 1971, before being Honorably discharged. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and all outdoor activities. He was a loving husband and an amazing father, with an unconditional spirit. Ollie spent many years working as a carpenter, using his hands to build numerous structures around the central Texas area. Ollie was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 19 years, Betty Edwards; brothers, Jodie Edwards, Kenneth Edwards, Billy Paul Edwards and Jerry Edwards; sisters, Faye Crawford and Effie Armer. 

Ollie is survived by his son, Mitchell Edwards and wife Cindy; sisters, Lillie Stovall and Nancy Cole; stepchildren, Larry Paul Ross, Kimberly Sue Fowler, Cami Mighell, John Michael Hitt, Craig Hill and Brian Hill; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
