Lynn Carter, age 62 of Gatesville, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
Nina Lynn Carter was born on July 13, 1962 to the late John Edwin and Reva Holt Morgan in Gatesville, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School. Lynn began her professional journey as a Correctional Officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where she dedicated over 22 years of service. After her retirement from TDCJ, she took on a significant role in managing her family’s business, Dyer’s Restaurant, alongside her mother for more than eight years. Even after the business closed, Lynn continued to serve her community by working as an Animal Control Officer and later as a Public Safety Dispatcher for the Gatesville Police Department. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She devoted much of her time to her family, volunteering with organizations such as Coryell County 4-H while raising her children. She enjoyed her coffee, watching television shows, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Lynn was preceded in death by parents, and son, John Jarret Colton Carter. She is survived by her children, Ashley Nicole Gusukuma and husband, Timothy, Adrian Collen Carter, and Ashton Morgan Carter; brother, John Denny Morgan and wife, Jeanetta; and grandchildren, Emily Pruett, Evany Pruett, Kisa Gusukuma, Hazely Gusukuma, Destany Albin, Emma Pruett, Hunner Albin, Celes Gusukuma, Grayson Albin, and Ayden Albin.
