Michayel Annette Smith

Michayel Annette Smith, age 54 of Gatesville, passed away on July 27, 2026, surrounded by family. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, at Flat Baptist Church.

Michayel “Shell” was born in Wills Point, Texas on September 28, 1971, to Jerry Ivy and the late Annette Franklin Ivy. Shell grew up in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville in High School in 1990. She married Reed Smith in 1990, and they raised their two boys in Gatesville. Shell retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system in 2021. Michayel enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family. She had a firm relationship with Jesus Christ and was an active member of Flat Baptist Church.

Shell was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Reed Smith; her sons, Shyloh Smith and Dykota Smith and wife, Stoy; father, Jerry Ivy; brother, Brian Ivy and wife, Karla and their children.
