Melba Jo Curtis

Melba Jo Curtis, age 80, passed away, Thursday, March 25, 2021 in Gatesville. Services are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Mound Cowboy Church in Mound, Texas. Melba was born, October 1, 1940, in Leon Junction, Texas to the late Calvin Smith and Susan Beatrice Brumalow Smith. Jo (Nanny) Curtis was a devoted wife to Pete Curtis for 37 years. He remained her true love for the rest of her days. Jo was a loving and patient mother, aunt, and grandmother. She loved teaching the people in her life how to cook and bake. Jo also enjoyed sharing her love of birds, flowers, cross-words, reading and little Debbie Cakes with all she knew. She adored children and had a sense of humor that only improved with age. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Beatrice Smith; husband, Pete Curtis; brothers, Delbert Smith, Charles Smith and Harvey Smith and a niece. Survivors include, sons; Daniel Curtis and wife Penny and Dennis Curtis and wife Tracey, daughters; Susan Curtis and Kathleen Brase, grandchildren; Brittani Shepherd, Danielle Nunnalee, Staci Kinnear, Rachelle Swearingen, Tristan Curtis, Gabby Curtis and Savannah Curtis and nine great grandchildren.
