Maybelle Lorene Crawford

Maybelle Crawford, age 102 of Gatesville, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Leakey Floral Cemetery, Leakey, Texas.

Maybelle Lorene Crawford was born January 28, 1923 to the late Jacob F. and Maude Large Huffmon in Real County, Texas. She grew up in Leakey, attending Leakey High School and graduating in 1939. In 1944, she married James Homer Crawford and together they made their home in Leakey. Maybelle, a devoted homemaker and mother of four children, believed strongly in caring for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and cherished working outside in her garden, sewing, and cooking and preparing meals for others.

Maybelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Homer Crawford; son, Bruce Crawford; stepson, James I. Crawford; brothers, Edward Huffmon, Dewey Huffmon, and Frank Huffmon; and grandson, Chris Cantwell.

She is survived by her children, Betsy Cantwell, Kenny Crawford, and Doyle Crawford and wife, Loraine; grandchildren, Brian Cantwell, Cheryl Millsaps, Lori Crawford, Ken Crawford, Justin Crawford, Jennifer Ashley Hicks, and Doyle Crawford; and numerous great grandchildren.
