Maximino Hernandez, age 61, and wife, Sofia Hernandez, age 68, both of Gatesville, passed away together on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 2204 Sunny Ln, Killeen, Texas 76541.
Sofia was born on October 10, 1956, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Artemio Lira and Ilda Garcia. Maximino was born on December 10, 1963, in Acuña, Mexico, to Pedro and Guadalupe Duran Hernandez.
Maximino and Sofia married on December 19, 1984, in Evant, Texas, where they built a life rooted in hard work and devotion to their family. Sofia was a nurturing and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who worked tirelessly to care for her household. In her free time, she loved cooking and gardening. She had unwavering strength, a generous heart, and wisdom that guided her family. Max was a hardworking and dependable provider who began his career as a sheep shearer and later became a successful businessman, owning his own construction company. In his free time, he loved to sing, do woodworking projects and go to concerts. Together, they worked as a team to create a stable and loving home and deeply loved their grandchildren by spending every moment possible with them.
Their spiritual journey began as a young couple when they started studying the Bible together. They embraced its teachings and dedicated their lives to serving as Jehovah’s Witnesses. This decision became the cornerstone of their marriage and family life. They were active members of the Highland Park Spanish Congregation in Copperas Cove, where they faithfully supported their spiritual community. Each day, they prioritized their faith, beginning their mornings by reading and meditating on the Bible. They shared their love for Jehovah with others by preaching in their community and setting a fine example of devotion.
Maximino and Sofia are survived by their daughters, Judith Castillo and husband, Robert, Jessica Guerrero and husband, Rudy, Yndira Barrientos, Prisma Hernandez, Elizeth Willacker, and Lynette Sayers and husband, Kawika; and grandchildren, Madison Sofia, Ian, Gabriel, Jaella, Anuhea, Kalai, Kainalu, and Aulani. Max is also survived by seven siblings, while Sofia is survived by her parents and eleven siblings.
Maximino and Sofia will be remembered for their deep love for one another, their dedication to their family, and their unwavering faith. Their legacy of love, kindness, and spiritual devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know them.
