Marvin Henry Witte, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Marvin was born on May 24, 1941, in Indian Gap, Texas, to Oscar and Bertha Witte. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville. He attended Pottsville School and graduated in 1959. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his service, Marvin remained deeply committed to his community as a volunteer fireman in Hamilton, Texas. Helping others was just who he was.
On December 26, 1970, he married the love of his life, Sandra Wiesepape. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and service. Marvin didn’t make big speeches or draw attention to himself, but his calm presence gave people a sense of stability and trust.
He loved working with his hands—whether it was building something in his shop, tending to his garden, or hunting arrowheads with the same curiosity he had as a boy. Visiting auctions and treasure hunting became a passion in his later years. He had a knack for fixing just about anything and a deep appreciation for the simple things. But his greatest joy—always—was his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra, and their three daughters: Amy Williams and husband Ralph, and their children Brian (Theresa) Williams, Kacie (Michael) Mann, and Morgan (Chase) Hyman; Shelley Voges and husband Robin, and their children Derek (Megan) Voges, Zachary (Allysa) Voges, and Jordan Voges; and Robin Eubanks and husband Ben, and their children Reilly and Zane.
Marvin was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Sam, Emily, Jessica, Lucas, Foster, Weston, Alexis, and Kaiden.
Marvin taught us all the value of hard work and love shown through acts of service. He didn’t need to say much—his actions spoke volumes. He was the one who showed up, the one who listened, the one who built a life of meaning for the people around him.
We will gather to celebrate Marvin’s life on May 24, 2025, 2:00 pm, at Trinity Lutheran, Pottsville—what would have been his 84th birthday. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to causes close to his heart: the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department, Solaris Hospice, or St. John Lutheran Church.
We miss him deeply, but we carry him with us—in every garden, every project, every family gathering, and in the everyday moments where his presence is still felt.
