Martha Pearl McHargue Skinner

On June 1, 2025, Martha Pearl McHargue Skinner, Southlake, Texas, at the age of 100 years, entered the presence of the Lord. Services will be held at the grave site at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, at Mound Cemetery in Mound, Texas.

Martha was born October 2, 1924, in Mound to Oren and Lizzie McHargue. She graduated from Gatesville High School. Martha married John Franklin Skinner, September 2, 1944. They were married for thirty-nine years and had three daughters.

Martha was a devoted, career military officers’ housewife and mother. She managed her household and children, with the Lords’ guidance, while her husband was overseas or on temporary assignments. She was blessed to travel extensively throughout her life.

Surviving members of her family are one daughter, Marcella (Martie) Matheidas and husband Brad Matheidas of Keller, Texas. She is united in Heaven with her husband, John Franklin Skinner and two daughters, Patricia Ann Trunko and Sheila Dietz, grandson Christopher Walker and nine siblings. Martha has six surviving grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and thirteen great- great grandchildren.

Martha was a Christian role model for her family. She always served her church families and was a charter member of Koza Baptist Church, Koza, Okinawa and Old Fort Baptist Church, Summerville, South Carolina. She taught preschoolers in Sunday School for 30 years, as was her passion to share her Lord with little ones. She was active in the Women’s Missionary Union, sang in the choir and in later years, dedicated herself to taking care of widows in her church.

She marveled in God’s creations by spending her free time gardening, feeding and watching nature.

In lieu of flowers, if you choose, donations can be made in memorial to the International Mission Board or The Salvation Army.

We rejoice in the promise of eternal life as Martha is now at peace in the arms of her Savior.
