Lydia Rodriguez

Mrs. Lydia Rodriguez, age 80 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 peacefully at her home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Ryan Rodriguez officiating.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.  For those unable to attend, Mrs. Rodriguez’s services will be live streamed at the link below her obituary at https://www.scottsfh.com/obituary/lydia-rodriguez.

Lydia “Ama” “Lita” Rodriguez, was born on October 4, 1942 in Skidmore, Texas to the late Agustin and Adelfina Gonzales.  She was raised in Texas, eloped with the love of her life Teodoro Rodriguez.  They married in 1958 and raised their four children in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and California.  In 1979 her family settled in Gatesville, where she backboned the family to good and hardworking members of the community.  She worked cleaning houses for wonderful folks in and around Gatesville and was considered more a close friend than an employee.  She met the true definition of a “Shepherd” when it came to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Teodoro Rodriguez in 2002 and a daughter, Angie Murdoch in 2021.

Lydia is survived by her sons, David Rodriguez and wife, July; Robert Rodriguez and wife, Diane; Alex Rodriguez and wife, Sharon, step-daughter, Margarita Martinez; and chingos of grandkids and great grandkids and great, great grandkids.
