Lloyd Murl Bushong

Lloyd Murl Bushong, age 74, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025.

Private family Interment will be held at a later date.

Lloyd was born on October 31, 1951, in Aransas Pass, Texas, to the late Tommie and Betty Pitts Bushong. He grew up in West Texas and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1970.

In 1971, Lloyd enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served as a fuel specialist. During his service, he was stationed at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan and at Mildenhall Air Force Base in Suffolk, England. After his honorable discharge in 1974, Lloyd worked in the shipping department for Teledyne in Dallas, Texas. He later spent a short time working in Alaska before returning to Gatesville, where he was employed by the Gatesville Country Club. Lloyd loved to read and especially enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Paula Rainer; and his brother-in-law, Keith Caldwell.

Lloyd is survived by his sister, Pam Caldwell; brother, Ken Bushong and wife Patty; brother-in-law, Joe Pat Rainer; nieces and nephews, Neeley Rainer, Rance Rainer and wife Merideth, Brandon Caldwell and wife Tamara, Wendy Singer and husband Jacob, Tommie Bushong and wife Ashley, and John Bushong and wife Dejah; and his beloved dog, Sadie.
