Linda Conway Scott

Linda Conway Scott, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Gatesville, Texas, the town where she was born and raised.

Born November 6, 1948, Linda graduated from Gatesville High School in 1967. She went on to build a career with Southwestern Bell Phone Company, where she worked for many years until her health began to decline.

In November of 1981, Linda married the love of her life, Archie Scott. The couple made their home in Houston, cherishing their time together until Archie’s passing in 2009. Following his death, Linda returned to Gatesville, where she remained close to her roots and was surrounded by family.

Linda was known for her love of Bingo-her favorite pastime-and was an avid player who found joy and lots of friends in the game. Her devotion to her family was evident throughout her life.

She is lovingly remembered by Prentice Conway (Judy), Chrissy Blakely (Pat), Janice Wilson, and Nancy Dowdy. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Shannon Blakely, Tisa Stevens, Jon Edmond (Jodie), Chris Dowdy (Tessa), and Susan Conway; great-nieces and great-nephews Heather Raico, Bryson Stevens, Maysea and Preslea Edmond, and Kinsler Dowdy; great-grandnephew Blayze Laidley; and special cousins, Cheryl Battle and Mike Conlin.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Archie Scott; brother-in-law Larry Dowdy; and parents Chris and Sue Conway.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank all the special staff members at Hillside Medical Lodge; they took such great care of her since 2017. Special thanks to Dr. Maynard and Dr. Pettit, and Amedisys Hospice Care.
