Leonard Eugene Stewart

Leonard Eugene Stewart, age 72 of Gatesville, passed away on January 25, 2026. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.

Leonard was born on July 27, 1953, in Mineral Wells, Texas to the late Eugene and Lucy Miller Stewart. Leonard was raised in West Virginia. He married Mary Bossey in 1972, and they had three children together. Later in life, he had two more children and lived in several places across the United States. Leonard will be remembered for his love for his family and his love for nature. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch and watching the deer and feeding the small animals that came up in the yard. Leonard was a fantastic artist and enjoyed spending time drawing and sharing these talents with his family.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; son, Leonard Eugene Stewart, II; and brother, Karl T. Stewart.

He is survived by his four children, Billy Stewart, Jerry Stewart, D. Mitchell Wandling, and Tressa Wandling; sister, Sharon Beth Bradford-Irwin; twenty-five grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews who thought the world of him.

Leonard will be dearly and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
