Larry Allen Braziel

Larry Allen Braziel, age 70 of Gatesville, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 in Gatesville. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Lentz officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 8th at the funeral home.

Larry was born on November 23, 1953, to Marie Frances and Alfred Lawrence Braziel. He grew up in Purmela and attended school in Evant where helped his father mow all over Central Texas. He played football for Evant and graduated from high school in 1973. He was drafted into the military in February of 1974 and served in Vietnam from 1975 to 1977.  He continued his military career with the National Guard and worked at M.A.T.E.S. from April 1980 until he retired in 2009.  After retirement he worked for T.D.C.J. for five years at the Hughes Unit.

Larry married the love of his life, Debbie, on November 19, 1999.

Larry enjoyed fishing, camping and anything and everything outdoors with his grandchildren. He loved family vacations which included riding roller coasters and anything adventurous. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan and was very witty and sarcastic. He was a member of Gatesville Masonic Lodge # 197 A.F. & A.M.

Larry will be remembered for his kindness, his generous nature, and his belief and faith in God. He will be dearly missed by his beloved dog, Benjermin Allen.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Braziel and wife, Nola; sister, Nina Carol Braziel; granddaughter, Destiny Brianne Rainbolt; and grandson, Tristan Finley Cole.

Larry is survived by his wife, Debbie Braziel; daughters, Renee Braziel; Nina Bridges and husband, Marcus; Misty Miller and husband, Paul; son, Clint Honea and wife, Sherrie; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Kelsey, Taylor and husband, Dustin, Kira, Skylar, Brooke, Chloe, Nathanial and an additional six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren he adored. He is also survived by sisters, Gitty Bates and husband, Dewayne; Amy Burbank and husband, Lloyd; three nieces and three nephews and many friends he considered family.
