Kenneth Ray McLearen, age 78, of Oglesby, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Scott’s Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Kenneth Ray McLearen was born April 3, 1947 in Eagle Springs, Texas. He attended and graduated school from Oglesby Independent School District where he met the love of his life, Anita Jackson. Kenneth and Anita married on September 10, 1966 and made their home in Oglesby where they raised three children. Their home was always a welcoming place for family and friends. Kenneth loved to grill and entertain. He and Anita enjoyed hosting summertime gatherings for their children and neighborhood friends. Kenneth and Anita were married for 56 years and were later blessed with six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Kenneth worked as a Machinist at Smead Manufacturing in McGregor, Texas where he later retired. He had a love of music and was a self-taught musician that had a special talent for playing a variety of instruments by ear. His favorite instruments would be the fiddle and guitar. Throughout the years, he led several successful bands, playing country music all around Central Texas.
Kenneth was proceeded in death by his mother, Dorothy Rhoads, his beautiful wife, Anita McLearen, granddaughter, Kayla Beth, nephews, Aaron Brady Gomez and Bobby Collins.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Curtis McLearen and wife Kim of Gatesville, Sheila McClinton and husband Randy of Oglesby, and Paula Bodnar of Keller; grandchildren, Kristin Coleman and husband Leslie, Dustin McLearen and wife Victoria, Ryan McClinton and wife Dominique, Kaitlyn McLearen, and Claire Bodnar; great grandchildren, Max, Kye, Jasey, Barrett, and Oliver; brother, Rick Rhoads and sister, Diane Gomez; sisters in law, Janette and husband Johnnie, Francis and husband Roger, and Brenda; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family and their children, Frank, Terri, and Kreece Castro, and Daniel, Tessia, Brody, Briley, and Miya Martinez.
Kenneth was loved by many and will be greatly missed!
