Kenneth Dwain Hancock

Kenneth D. Hancock, age 76 of Gatesville, passed away on the morning of April 26, 2021 in Gatesville. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, May 3, 2021 at Mound Cemetery with Rev. Wray Nunn officiating.

Kenneth was born on August 23, 1944 in Gatesville to the late J.W. Hancock and Katherine Bragewitz Hancock. He grew up and attended school in Merkle, TX.  Some years later Kenneth moved to Snyder, TX where he went to work in the oil field for Backer Oil Tools. In the early 1990s he moved to Gatesville where he met and married Barbara Hamill on November 12, 1993.  He went to work for JHL Construction, where he worked for several years before retiring. He loved to garden, go fishing and spend time working on anything that needed fixing.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, J.W. and Katherine Hancock; brothers, Ray Hancock and Ricky Hancock.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Barbara Hamill Hancock; daughters, Christie Romero and husband, Jose, Melisa Bartley, Denise Grozdanich and husband, Bill; sons, Kenneth “Kenny” Hancock and wife, Miranda, Kenneth “Dwain” Bartley; 8 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Schafer and husband, Chester of Florida, Dorothy Yates and husband, Paul of Florida and a brother, John Hancock also of Florida.
