Kenneth Hale, age 83 of Gatesville passed away on Monday, December 03, 2018 in Gatesville. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Jonesboro Cemetery, with his brother-in-law, Neal Matthews officiating.  Following services, visitation with the family will be at Jonesboro Baptist Church. Kenneth was born on December 10, 1934 in Leon Junction to the late Ollie and Neta Pennington Hale. He grew up in Jonesboro, where he was active in all sports and graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1953.  He served seven years in the U.S. Army Reserve.  He owned and operated Wide World Surplus for many years in Gatesville.  He married Cleda Barton on Feb. 12, 1993.  He enjoyed cooking, hunting, collecting treasures and traveling with his wife, Cleda in their motorhome.   He was a member of Mountain Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Patsy Hale Kay, Louise Qualls; step-daughter, Bridgette Adkison; grandson, Brandon Ozell Townsend; and nephews, Michael and Matt Lord; and a niece Patricia Lord. He is survived by his wife, Cleda Hale; daughters, Deborah Kirkpatrick and husband, Charles, Sonya Hale Cunningham and husband, Harold; son, Danny Hale and wife, Gail; sisters, Audrey Hale Lord, Anne Malpass, Pamela Matthews; a granddaughter, Christon Haydon Hill, that he considered as a daughter and her husband, Scott and eight other grandchildren to include, Mandy Olivar and husband, Jason, Kenneth James Hale, Jessica Holden and husband, Wayne, Melissa Hocker, and Kyle Wilson; step-son, Brad Barton and wife, Holly; step-daughter, Tammy Massingill and husband, Dewayne; step-grandchildren, Kayla Miller, Chancy Lay and husband, Daniel, Heath Holden, Shalayne Massingill, Kaylee Massingill, Bobby Barton; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Mountain Baptist Church, 6319 E. Hwy 84, Gatesville, TX 76528 or Jonesboro ISD Athletic Booster Club, 14909 E. State Hwy 36. Jonesboro, Texas 76538.
