Kaidyn "KV” Vargas of Gatesville left this world on July 28, 2025, at the age of 14. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, at Scott’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
Kaidyn was a student of Gatesville ISD. Kaidyn played many sports throughout the years from soccer and coach pitch to basketball. He played several years of youth football before stepping out on the field as a Gatesville Hornet in junior high. Kaidyn stepped away from sports and grew a passion for music. Recently Kaidyn became obsessed with learning to play the electric guitar, ukulele and Kalimba. Recently Kaidyn was learning “Riptide” on the ukulele as that was his favorite song.
Kaidyn was fearless. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake jumping off any rock that would make a big splash and he loved to be slung around on the tube. Devil’s Hole held a special place in his heart. He couldn’t wait to be big enough to finally jump from the top rock. After finally making his way back to Devil’s Hole this past year, he made sure he had a camera in hand and was able to vlog every moment going up and coming down.
From the moment Kaidyn was born, he had an immense love for animals. This passion only grew stronger as the years went on, trading in his Ty Beanie Babies for any animal his mother would allow him to bring home. His heart for animals showed in the care and compassion he gave any animal he encountered. He dreamed of one day turning his love for animals into a career.
Kaidyn is deeply loved and will forever be missed by his parents, David and Cheyenne Brittain; brothers, Jaymeson Vargas and Colt Brittain; grandparents, David Brittain, Sr., Marvin and Sheila Beechly and Roy and Geneva Vargas; as well as his godmother Stephanie Sheets and family.
Kaidyn is also survived by his great grandmother “Nana”Elizabeth Crawford, great grandfather James LaFountain and Pat, great grandparents Paul and Joyce Beechly; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Kaidyn leaves behind many, while being greeted with open arms by his grandmother Sandra Vargas; great grandparents Floyd and Shirley Brittain, great grandpa Billy Bachman and great grandmothers Susan LaFountain and Sue Beechly.
Kaidyn will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his infectious humor and spontaneous wit saying anything that popped into his head, no matter how strange or sometimes inappropriate it may have been. Whether he was cracking jokes in the hallways at school or lightning up the mood during a test, his playful spirit was not limited to just his family. Anyone fortunate enough to have known him was truly blessed.
