J.R. (Ronnie) Kennedy

J. R. (Ronnie) Kennedy, age 80 of Jonesboro passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 in Waco.

 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Flint Creek Cemetery, with Carlos Webb officiating.  Visitation with the family will be prior to services at the cemetery pavilion.

 

James Ronnie Kennedy was born on March 23, 1942 in Abbott, Texas to the late A. R. (Dado) and Opal Crowe Kennedy.  He grew up in Abbott and graduated from Abbott High School in 1960.  He married Linda Bay in December of 1972.  They have resided in Coryell County most of their married lives.  He worked as a conductor for BNSF Railroad for 34 years until his retirement.  J. R. was baptized at an early age and a member of the Line Street Methodist Church in Hillsboro and was currently a member of Boots N Saddle Cowboy Church, where he was baptized in the spring of 2009.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren along with his fur baby, Gizmo.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dado and Opal Kennedy; son, Michael Kennedy and his father-in-law, Darel Bay.

 

J. R. is survived by his wife, Linda Kennedy; children, Leisa Blanchard and husband, Chad, Nikki Kennedy and partner, Darrel Sheets, Joe Kennedy, Wyatt Kennedy and partner, Julie Tye; sister, Betty Watson; grandchildren, Cody Whigham, Keri Whigham, Kayci Scheiblich and husband, Shawn, Kaylie Martinez, Dillion Peters, Rhysa Smith, Kyler Smith, Lute Kimbro, Dalton Kennedy, Jaycee Redden, Eli Kennedy, mother-in-law, Ruby Bay; sister-in-laws, Vicky Redden and husband, Chuck, Sharon Santamaria and husband, Jose; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Boots N Saddle Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 234, Gatesville, TX 76528.
