Joyce Tippit

Joyce Tippit, age 89 of Gatesville, Texas  passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Scott’s Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.

Joyce was born on June 28, 1934, to Carlton and Thelma Martin Hartwick. She grew up in Osage and attended school in Oglesby and Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1951. Joyce married Marvin Ray Tippit on June 28, 1951. Joyce was a homemaker when her two girls were young. Joyce and her husband owned and operated Tippit’s Western Wear in Gatesville for 22 years. Joyce, better known as “Mammie”, loved her family and enjoyed attending the many events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could often find her at rodeos and various sporting events across the state. Joyce was always known for her sense of fashion and style. She enjoyed playing the piano and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Thelma Martin Hartwick; husband, Ray Tippit; and daughter, Terrie Tippit Lee.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Debbie Maxwell and husband, Daryl; son-in-law, Gary Lee; grandchildren, Misti Morra and husband, Kevin, Lori McLaughlin and husband, Brent, Kristian Brown and husband, Jim, Kyle Maxwell and wife, Paulyn, Chance Lee and wife, Brittny; great- grandchildren, Garret Jones, Quinlan Jones, McKenna Luensmann and husband, Braden, Camden Morra, Kian Dingianni, Kyler Maxwell, Myler Lee, Brayden Lee, and Kylie Maxwell.
