John Wayne Stewart, Sr.

John Stewart, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Scott’s Funeral Home with burial at Greenbriar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. John was born on March 30, 1953 in Cedar Park, Texas to late Alfred and Adelle Bilbery Stewart. He attended school in Chalk Mountain, just north of Hico, Texas. He started working with his dad at the age of six cutting cedar and hauling hay. John married Sharon Walters on July 9, 1973 in Brownwood, Texas. They moved to Gatesville in the early 1980’s. He and his kids would work together cutting cedar, hauling hay, and working on equipment. When he was not working, he loved to spoil his grandchildren, ride his motorcycle and watching westerns on TV. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Buddy Stewart, Quinton Stewart; sister, Jeanette Anderson and two grandchildren, Breatlyn Nicole Lee and Johnathan Gene Taylor . John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon Stewart; children, Jeanettea Millsap and husband, Allen, Charlie Stewart and wife, Branda, Linda Gallaway and husband, Ty, Johnny Stewart, Shane Stewart and wife, Tiffany, John Wayne “Bubba” Stewart, Jr., and wife, Jessica, Michelle Stewart, Edwin Stewart; one brother; eight sisters; 24 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
