John Adam Johnson

John Adam Johnson, age 20 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

At 7 lbs. and 11 ounces, John Adam was born at 6:58 a.m. on June 4, 2006 in Waco, Texas to Christina Turgeon and John Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Gatesville. He graduated from Pen Foster in June 2025. John Adam worked at Attic Breeze in Gatesville where he had become a certified forklift driver and built and shipped solar fans for attics. He was especially proud the day he received his forklift certification, proudly saying that he was “moving up in the world.”

John Adam, affectionately known as Tadpole, was a happy, fun-loving, and wonderfully goofy young man who brought joy and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know him. He loved playing jokes, teasing those he cared about, and surprising people with his mischievous smile. He was smart and great with his hands…. always tinkering. He worked hard and even harder if there was a competition. He loved to compete…and win.

John Adam was a lover of all things “outdoors”. He loved to fish, hunt, and swim and spent every summer with his friends swimming in the river, taking trips to the Gulf, and shooting guns. He loved his friends and defended them fiercely. John Adam was a kind soul and truly loved his family and friends to the fullest. He had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to help others. His hugs were big and full of love, and his presence had a way of making those around him smile.

Though God gifted John Adam to his family and friends for far too short a time, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever, just like his spirit. He will be deeply missed.

John Adam was preceded in death by his Pepaw, Daniel Olivarez; Memaw, Wilma Brading; Papaw, H.A. Brading; and Oma, Karin Turgeon.

He is survived by his parents John Johnson and wife Sara, and Christina Turgeon and husband Bobby; siblings, Madison Johnson, Maegan Pratt, Isabella Turgeon , Zachary Turgeon, Damian Turgeon, Bobby Turgeon, Brittany Turgeon, Jacob Townsley, and Ella Townsley; and grandparents, Bobby P. Turgeon, Carol Curry, Johnny and Cathy Johnson, Yvonne and John Curtis, and Steve and Nancy Kepple.
