Joanne Herring

Joanne Herring, age 90 of Gatesville, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024. Graveside services will be held at Ater Cemetery on Wednesday, July 3 at 10:00 a.m. with Matt Dossey officiating. There is no set time for visitation. Viewing will be available Tuesday until 8:00 p.m.

Joanne was born January 30, 1934, near Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Henry Edward Thomas and Frances Earline (Kent) Thomas. She married Darrell Herring on April 25, 1954. Joanne was a licensed vocational nurse at Hillcrest hospital. She worked as a neurosurgery nurse for many years. Joanne loved to play her mandolin with all of her music friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell Herring in 2001; and brother Edward Thomas, Jr.

Joanne is survived by two sisters, Barbara Mullins, and husband, Dennis of Montana, and Francie Welling, and husband, Stephen of Arkansas; sons, Bob Herring and wife, Linda of Morgan, Tom Herring and wife, Linda of Colorado, and Jack Herring and wife, Shelley of Gatesville; daughter Mary Anne Wiley, and husband Alan of Bryan; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
