Jerry Hoffman, age 79 of Evant passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 12, 2024, having fought a courageous battle with cancer for many years.
Jerry was born on February 29, 1944, in Grand Prairie, Texas. He attended high school in Stinnett playing football with the former Green Bay Packer Donny Anderson. Due to a knee injury, he was not given an athletic scholarship, but received a full academic scholarship at Texas Tech University. He was a scholar and excelled in Physics.
After college Jerry joined the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972 receiving medals for Good Conduct, National Defense Service and Expert M-14. Jerry prayed daily for his friends and brothers he lost during the war.
Jerry had a successful career with General Telephone, traveling internationally for the company over the years. His work ethic and dedication resulted in outstanding success.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Fred M. and Marjorie Fay Hoffman, and his loving wife, Sandy. He is survived by his brother, Fred W. Hoffman and wife Carol; two nephews and one niece.
