James “Jim” Gossett, age 90 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Bragdon officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Jim was born July 2, 1935 to the late Melvin and Margaret Newland Gossett in Gatesville, Texas. For over 50 years, Jim owned and operated Gossett Transmission Service and Gossett Towing and Wrecker Service, proudly working alongside his sons. In his younger years, he served as a dedicated member of the Gatesville Fire Department. He loved spending holidays with his family and had a passion for travel. His favorite adventures included an Alaskan cruise, numerous visits to the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina and jeep riding with his family in Colorado. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially gardening and caring for his yard.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Madelyn Van Alsteine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Winona Gossett; children, Johnny Gossett and wife Luanna, Kim Vandine and husband Robert, Ray Gossett and wife Tammye, and Del Gossett; eight grandchildren, Clement Gossett, Nikki West and husband Jimmy, Robin Fox and husband Kiel, Lera Williams and husband Tye, Ragen Polansky and husband Rob, Chelsae Desormeaux and husband Justin, Megan Threadgill and husband Jason, and Bailey Griffin and husband Justin; and fifteen great grandchildren.
