Ione Benjamin Moore

Ione Moore, age 98, passed away, Sunday, December 6, 2020 in Heath, Texas surrounded by her family. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday December 21, 2020 at Restland Cemetery. Ione Benjamin Moore was born in Arnett, Texas on September 1, 1922 to Mollie Huey and Ben F. Benjamin. She graduated valedictorian of Ireland High School in 1940 and went to work for Sears Roebuck catalog in Dallas before working at Fort Hood during World War II and finally at the National Bank in Gatesville. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Gatesville. Ione enjoyed pecan pie, her bridge club, and her friends. She married Clyde “Pokey” Moore on June 15 1949, and together they had one son, Larry Clyde Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pokey, and her siblings; Ernest H. Benjamin of Gatesville, Vera B. Melton of Temple, Chesley K. Benjamin of Temple, and Willie B. Bundrant of Gatesville. She is survived by her beloved son: Larry C. Moore, MD and his wife Rachel of Heath, and her three grandchildren: Lawrence M. Moore of Coppell, Lidia Francis Moore of Brooklyn, New York, and Hugh Benjamin Moore of Heath, Texas.
