Hermione Ashby, age 95 of Jonesboro passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.

There will not be any public memorial services, private family inurnment will be at Gatesville Masonic Cemetery.  Flowers and cards may be sent to Seaborn Ashby, 350 CR 193, Jonesboro Texas 76538.

Laurel Hermione Ashby was born on January 25, 1926 in the Ewing community of Coryell County, now part of Ft. Hood.  She was the daughter of the late A. E. and Willie Stockton Whisenhunt, who were both school teachers.  She married her high school sweetheart from the age of 15 on April 7, 1946, Seaborn Ashby, Jr. They raised three sons, Seaborn, Bill and Jim on the Whisenhunt farm in Jonesboro.  She was a housewife raising their family, until later in life, when she went to work for Miller Motor Ford, for many years and then for the Coryell County Tax Assessor’s office, until her retirement.  After her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling with their close friends and rock hunting all over the United States.  She will be most remembered for all her crochet items and quilts that she made for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bill Ashby; and sister, Azalea Kirkpatrick.

Hermione is survived by her husband of 75 years, Seaborn Ashby, Jr.; sons, Jim Ashby and wife, Carol, Seaborn Kenneth Ashby and wife, Sandra; grandchildren, Tiffany Coble and husband, Rusty, Chris Ashby and wife, Angie, Paul Ashby, Lydia Moore and husband, Paul; great grandchildren, Lauren and Lariat Jackson, Cassidy and Kolby Taylor, Katie Kuzenka, Ryan Kuzenka, Caitlin and Paul Brown, Keegan Coble and Seaborn Braden Ashby.
