Henry Oney

Henry Oney, age 89 of Evant, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at his home.

 

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Pearl Cemetery with Jace Graham officiating.

 

Henry Vaden Oney was born on October 18, 1933 to the late Omie and Lottie Walker Oney in Pearl, Texas.  He attended school in Evant, graduating in 1952.  After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Virginia Beach, Virginia until 1954.  He later began his career with the City of Evant and served as the City’s Water Department Superintendent for 27 years before retiring.  Henry also served as the manager of the Duroc Ranch, located near Evant.  On July 12, 1961, he married Phyllis Adams, and the couple made their home in Evant. 

 

Henry’s passions included collecting arrowheads, which was evident by his extensive collection and his work at the Duroc Ranch.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Phyllis. 

 

Henry is survived by his children, Connie Manning and partner, Larry Creacy of Evant, Robbie Oney of Gatesville, Bonnie Hayes and husband, Michael of Enterprise, Alabama; brother, Vance Oney of Gatesville; sister, Sue Wilhite, of Gatesville; grandchildren, Aaron Parker and wife, Amanda of Humble, Nikki Allen and husband, Eric of Hamilton, Chelsea Goulart of Enterprise, Alabama, Braden Goulart of Enterprise, Alabama, Tara Bertrang and husband, Michael of Evant; great-grandchildren, Clayton Gill and wife, Kayla, Elyssa Parker, Cami Parker, Jordan Parker, Corbin Holder, Kyle Goulart, Jake Bertrang, Maybre Bertrang; and great-great-grandchildren, Hadlee and Daleney Gill.
