Glenda Murray

Glenda Murray, age 87 of Austin, formerly of Gatesville passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 in Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Loyd Hall officiating.  Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.  The family will be hosting a reception following the interment at 3:30 p.m. at the Gatesville Church of Christ.

Glenda Roberts Murray was born on April 3, 1935 in Coryell County, to the late Ross and Thelma Vesta Culp Roberts. She attended Gatesville High School where she played the timpani drums and was Secretary for the Senior Class of 1953.  While at North Texas State University in Denton, a friend of Glenda’s set her up on a blind date with Max Murray, who was also attending the university and had recently returned from the Navy. Glenda stood him up, but eventually, Max won Glenda’s heart. On March 5, 1955, they married at Max’s mother’s home, Maude Murray in Denton.   She was a member of the Gatesville Church of Christ.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Max Murray; four children: Grayson Nelson, Cameron Hardman, Craig Murray, Heather Mueller; sister, Mary Lou Reed; grandchildren, Eric Nolff, Callie Schmidbauer, Corrine Murray, Katelyn Mueller, Cassandra Murray, Emilee Mueller and Corbin Murray; great grandchildren,  Rowan Schmidbauer and Fallon Schmidbauer.
