Gene Marion

Gene Marion, age 92, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Southlake, Texas.

Private interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, next to his late wife, Janell.  Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.

Eugene Marvin (Gene) Marion was born on February 12, 1930 in Waco, to the late Walter Taylor Marion and Oleane Rush Marion. He grew up in Waco and attended Waco High School, graduating in 1948. Texas Christian University was his college of choice and he graduated from there earning a mechanical design engineer degree. He worked at Convair/General Dynamics for eight years before moving on to Dahlgren Manufacturing, where he was the printing press chief engineer and Vice President of his division. He proudly served four years in the United States Navy, during the Korean war. After marrying his lifelong love, Janell Roberts, they moved to Gatesville to open the Kountry Kitchen restaurant. A few years in Austin followed, before they settled in Grapevine, Texas to be near their beloved grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Janell Marion; son, Brandon Marion; brothers, Sonny Marion, Duane Marion, and Rush Marion; nephews, Randy Voss and Kelly Voss.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Croce and husband, Joe; granddaughter, Blair Croce; grandson, Cole Croce; daughters, Janet Kay and Julia Gay and their families; sister, Barbara Tosch; brother, Don Marion; nephews and nieces, Kenneth Eugene Voss and Kim Smith and their families.
