Gary L. Duke, Sr.

Gary L. Duke, Sr.  age 73 of Star, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Hamilton. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Hurst Ranch Cemetery in Star.  Gary was born on April 8, 1945 in Alabama, to the late Marion and Imo Owens Duke.  He grew up in Houston and was drafted into the U.S. Army at young age.  He served in Korea and three tours in Vietnam, retiring after 21 years of service in 1986 as a 1SGT. He married Brenda Marks in 1965. After his retirement, he lived in Copperas Cove, moving to Star in 1993. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Brenda Duke in 2015; two grandchildren, Shyanne and Dillon Duke. He is survived by son, Mark Duke of Star; daughter, Tami Overstreet of Waco; brother, Eddie Duke of Alabama; two grandchildren, Devin Gifford and Justin Duke; and one great-granddaughter.
