Gary Lynn Bray

Gary Lynn Bray, age 64 of Gatesville, passed away on January 8, 2026. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Gary was born on September 1, 1961, in Killeen, Texas to the late Chester Bray and Barbara Robertson. Gary grew up in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1980. On July 20, 1984, Gary married Marcia Schuetze in Waco, Texas and in 1992 they welcomed a son into their family. Seven years later they welcomed their daughter.

Gary worked with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in the maintenance department as an HVAC technician for 26 years, retiring in 2011. He then worked at the Fort Hood Directorate of Public Works (DPW) as an electrician for 12 years, retiring in 2025. Growing up, Gary and his dad raised birds and he was enjoying this hobby again with a new bird house this past year.

Gary is preceded in deaths by his parents, Chester Bray and Barbara Robertson; stepfather, Gene Robertson; and grandson, Jaxon Bray.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marcia Schuetze Bray; son, Cody Bray and partner, Erica Bartlett; daughter, Cheyenne Jones, and husband, Kirk; grandchildren, Hazel, Braylynn, Tate, and Colson; step-grandchildren, Kayden, Emma and Alex; and his fur babies, Mena and Rip.
