Galen Herrington

Galen Kent Herrington, age 71 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel.

Galen was born on Oct. 7, 1948 in Belton, to the late B. E. (Red) and Manervia (Snorty)  Jackson Herrington.  He grew up in Belton and graduated from Belton High School in 1967.  He worked as a construction superintendent during his career, building schools and hospitals all over the nation.  He married Mary Cascio on July 8, 1988 and they moved to Gatesville in 2004.  He had a deep faith in his Lord and was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.  Galen will be remembered as a gentle, gentle caring man and was kind to everyone.  Even in his career as a supervisor, he earned the respect of all, by the way he treated others.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Herrington; daughters, Angela Helton and husband, Bob and Amy Rodgers and husband, Dennis; sister, Darla Hill; brother, Alan Herrington and wife, Pam; and three grandchildren, Blake Helton, Jennifer Helton and Bobby Hart.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials be made to Live Oak Baptist Church, 113 FM 107, Gatesville, TX 76528.
