Frank Russell Murray

Frank Russell Murray, 68, of Gatesville, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home in Gatesville on March 21, 2026. Graveside services will be held at Killeen City Cemetery, 2800 East Rancier Avenue, Killeen, Texas 76541 on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Frank was born on May 17, 1957, in Viernheim, Germany, to William D. and Rosa Anna Murray. He later made his home in Texas, where he attended Killeen High School and completed numerous technical courses that prepared him for a lifelong career working with his hands.

Frank proudly served as an Army veteran and went on to build a strong career as a heavy equipment mechanic. Over the years, he worked with Fort Hood Range Control, Trailways Bus Service, Caterpillar, VSE, and Sure Trac. He was known for his work ethic, skill, and dedication to getting the job done right.

Frank found his greatest joy in the simple things in life. He loved working in the yard alongside his “Forever Annie,” spending time at the beach, visiting casinos, fishing, and camping—always made better with some good blues music playing in the background. He lived by a simple code: work hard and don’t waste time on foolishness.

He is survived by his Beloved Annie, He is also survived by his sister, Darlen Ness (Children Reginald (Christina) and June (John) and Sister Kathy Hopson (Eddie Randolph) (Children Charles (Chelsea) Courtney (Brittney) and Cheyne.

He is also survived by the children he raised, Valerie and Wade Myrum; and his granddaughter, Leah Marie Myrum.

Frank was deeply loved by many extended family members, including T.J. and Galileia Elison and Nathalia Silva; Thomas Elison (Nina)(their children Penelope-Sophie-Elizabeth), Jacob Elison (Andrew), Michael, Josie, and Mikey Craig; Tony and Lexi Craig and their children Corabryn, Kinley, and Emmet; Brad and Julie Elison and their children John and Natalie (Bobby); Donna and Rich Butler and their children Teddy (Sarah) and Monika (Bret); and Yvonne Shields, along with many, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Rosa Anna Murray.

Frank will be remembered as a man whose impact on others was quiet, yet deeply powerful. A man who knew who he was and never apologized for it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private memorial rosary will be held by the family. We appreciate your prayers and understanding during this time.
