Felton Thompson, age 88 of Gatesville, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. 

 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023 at Restland Cemetery, with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating.

 

Felton Romane Thompson was born on October 10, 1934 in Coryell County, to the late Jewel Rape and Almeda Cole Rape. At an early age, his father passed away and his mother married Odie Thompson, who became a father to him, and he legally took his name.  He went to school in the Mound community and graduated from Gatesville High School.  He married Melda Jean Ross on March 6, 1961 in Oklahoma.  They resided in Oklahoma for many years, where he was a contractor as an oil pipeline welder.  They moved back to Gatesville in 1998.  His wife preceded him in death on November 19, 2010.  He was a member of Cedar Ridge Church of Christ.

 

He was also preceded in death by his biological father, Jewel Rape; parents, Almeda and Odie Thompson; daughter, Debbie Thompson and a son, Barry Thompson.

 

Felton is survived by his son, Gary Thompson and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Charlie Thompson, James Thompson, Steven Thompson and Jesse Diller; five great grandchildren, Brandi Thompson, Christian Thompson, Trinity Thompson, Heather Thompson and Max Thompson; and two great-great grandchildren, Avery Stocks and Logan Stocks.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cedar Ridge Church of Christ, 104 Cedar Ridge Road, Gatesville, TX 76528.
